Highlights from the CDA Chess MLK Celebration Tournament!

Thanks to everyone participating in the CDA Chess MLK Celebration Online Tournament on January 20, 2025! The event was filled with exciting matches, intense competition, and a fantastic display of strategy and sportsmanship as we honored Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s legacy of unity and growth.

With a 3-round Swiss format and a fast-paced Game with 20-time control, players brought their best moves to the virtual boards on Lichess.org. Congratulations to Deon (deongood) for claiming first place with an impressive 2.5 points, including victories over Andrew Sr. (ARVdesigns) and Andrew Jr. (MijoGrande), plus a first-round bye. A big shoutout to Andrew Sr., who secured second place, and Michael d. (bodenzo), who rounded out the podium with a solid 2 points.

Special thanks to Therese (ghsneligunweryb) and Steve (twotacky1) for their participation and great games, contributing to the spirited competition and community atmosphere. Every participant helped make this tournament a memorable event, and we hope you all enjoyed connecting through the game we love.

We’re excited to announce that the next CDA Chess Club tournament is underway! Mark your calendars for Washington’s Birthday weekend—details on the time and date will be shared soon. Stay tuned, and don’t miss your chance to join the action again.

Thank you for celebrating with us and making this event a success. See you at the next tournament!
