Tournament Highlights
The final night of the tournament was nothing short of spectacular. One of the standout moments was an intense draw between Andrew and Matt, where Andrew found a perpetual check to force a draw despite Matt’s apparent advantage. The crowd gathered around to witness this nail-biting finish as time expired, showcasing chess's excitement and unpredictability.

Final Results
Section 1 (1201+)
Winner: Richard (5 points) – Dominated the section but dropped a game to Andrew.
Second Place: Eric
Third Place: William
Most Improved Player: Matt – Gained an impressive 110 rating points, moving from 1178 to 1288 in the last three months!
Section 2 (1200-)
Winner: Brad (5 points) – Edged out Evan in the tie-breaker despite losing their final match.
Second Place: Evan (5 points)
Overall, 24 players participated in the tournament, up from 22 last month. We were thrilled to welcome new members, including Brad's son, Dave Niemann. The level of play continues to rise, with both new and veteran players showing tremendous growth.

Next Monday, May 26, is Memorial Day, and we’ll be hosting open play starting at 6:00 p.m. This is an excellent opportunity to enjoy casual games, connect with fellow players, and sharpen your skills without formal pairings or competition.
Looking ahead, our next tournament kicks off on June 2. Mark your calendars and get ready for another exciting series of matches. Whether you’re a seasoned competitor or just starting out, we’d love to have you join the fun.
