Thrilling Conclusion: Deon Wins Chess 4 Success Tournament

 


Are you passionate about chess or curious to dive into the world of chess for the first time? We are thrilled to invite you to the upcoming Chess 4 Success series! This exciting tournament spans three weeks and features two intense rounds each evening. Whether you're a seasoned player or a complete beginner, this event promises to be a stimulating and enjoyable experience.

Hosted at two convenient locations beginning July 8th, the event kicks off at the Regular Club meetings every Monday at 6:00 PM at the Riverstone McDonalds and the Beginners meetings every Thursday at 6:00 PM at the Post Falls Burger King. It’s the perfect setting to meet fellow chess enthusiasts, hone your skills, and enjoy friendly competition.

At Chess 4 Success, everyone is welcome. There’s no need to pre-register, and no fees are collected. Whether a beginner or a seasoned player, bring your enthusiasm and be ready to play. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn and grow, no matter your current skill set.

As a bonus, this event serves as ideal preparation for the highly anticipated CDA Chess Regional Summer Quads on July 27. While participating each night isn’t required, those who do will get the most out of the experience.

Results from July 8

We're delighted to announce that 17 players participated in the action on July 8th. A warm welcome to Elijah, who played his first game with our club, and Jonathan, who returned to action after a time away. This brings our current active membership to 59! The club continues attracting high-quality players, and the games are intense.

Four players who won both of their games made significant rating gains: Payton (+60), Milo (+46), Deon (+24), and Sam (+18). Behr split two games but still managed to gain (+39). The results have been updated on the chess ladder, reflecting tonight's action.

We encourage everyone to join next week's games, even if you did not compete tonight. It's always possible to join, improve your skills, and enjoy the camaraderie of fellow chess enthusiasts. We're excited to see more participation and exhilarating matches in the coming weeks!

Results from July 15

We had another thrilling evening on July 15! Sam, Deon, Eric, and Jonathan recorded two victories each, showcasing impressive performances. Sam and Deon are leading the tournament standings with 4 points each. Eric closely follows them with 3 points and Jonathan with 2.5 points.

The final two rounds will be held next week to determine the tournament title. We promise exciting and intense matches. We encourage everyone to participate and witness what will be a gripping conclusion to the event.

Remember to sign up for the CDA Chess Regional Summer Quads on July 27th in Liberty Lake. We’re hoping for a strong turnout from the Spokane and Coeur d'Alene clubs for this inaugural event. Whether you’ve participated in the Chess 4 Success tournament or not, this is an excellent opportunity to compete and engage with the wider chess community.

Results from July 22

The grand finale of the Chess 4 Success tournament unfolded on July 22, with Deon emerging as the overall champion. Deon displayed exceptional skill and strategy, winning all 6 of his matches. Sam C. followed closely, securing 5 wins. Our tournament was notably competitive, with a total of 25 players participating.

The evening also saw some impressive individual performances and fresh faces. Mike K. and Rick both won their games, with Rick gaining a notable 45 rating points. We were delighted to welcome new players, Chris H. and Juliette G., who played their first games with the club. Their addition brings our active club ladder to a robust 60 players!

There is considerable excitement for the upcoming CDA Chess Regional Summer Quads on July 27th in Liberty Lake. Interest is high, but registrations are coming in gradually.
