CDA Chess Regional Summer Quads

Location:Liberty Launch Academy, 2110 N Molter Rd, Liberty Lake, WA 99019 (Directions)
Time:Check-in: Saturday, July 27, 2024, 9:00 a.m., first round at 9:30 a.m.
Format:Quad G/40;d5 - US Chess Rated, Unrated Sections available, including novice. If the number of registrants precludes setting all sections up in a Quad format, a 3-round Swiss may be substituted.
Registration:$20. Current US Chess Membership is required for rated sections. You may not be paired for round 1 if your registration is within 24 hours of the start time.
Prizes:$45 for 1st, $25 for 2nd, in each quad or section
Other:Please bring your own tournament-standard chess set and clock. We will also provide some chess sets and clocks, but availability may be limited. Please note that the ‘no Insufficient Losing Chances' rule will be in effect.

Byes:Each player is allowed a maximum of one half-point bye in any round. Byes must be requested at least 30 minutes before the start of the round.
Ties:In case of a tie, the following tiebreakers will be used: Solkoff, Cumulative, Cumulative Opposition, Mod. Med.

Final Results of the Summer Solstice Chess Tournament and Upcoming Events

The Summer Solstice Chess Tournament concluded with an exciting finale. Players battled it out over three weeks of intense matches. In the Solstice A Bracket, 12 players competed fiercely, with the top finishers being Steve (4.5 points), John (4 points), and Sam and Greg, who each secured 3.5 points. The final night highlighted Steve's remarkable save against John, turning a near-loss into a draw. Sam and Mike’s game also resulted in a draw. Eric and Greg showed their strength by winning both matches that evening. Meanwhile, the Solstice B Bracket was a close contest, with Payton, Emerson, and Frank each achieving 4 points. Payton edged out his competitors through tie-breakers based on opponents' scores. Matt's son, newcomer Emmaus , made a memorable debut. Community and Competition: Celebrating the Culmination of the Board Directors Tournament

  As the final pawns are moved and the last kings are checkmated, we are thrilled to announce the culmination of the Board Directors Tournament. This event has been a vibrant tapestry of strategic mastery, intense competition, and unwavering community spirit. Over the past three weeks, we've witnessed six competitive rounds, an inspiring display of chess prowess, and the birth of new friendships and rivalries. Our final week was nothing short of spectacular. An astounding 27 players completed at least one game during the event, with 22 dedicated participants battling it out in the final round. The inclusion of new players Joel, Christopher, and Phil, as well as the return of Ewan and Don, added an exciting twist to the final Act. Steve emerged as the champion, finishing with an impressive 5.5 points out of six, thanks to a fortunate bye in round 5.
