The Knights Before Christmas: A December Chess Extravaganza

The holiday season usually brings thoughts of roasting chestnuts and wrapping gifts, but this year, we are adding a tactical twist to your December. It is time to trade your candy canes for chess clocks.

We are thrilled to announce our final event of the year: The Knights Before Christmas Tournament. This isn't just another rated Swiss; it is a celebration of our community, the game we love, and the festive spirit. Whether you are a Grandmaster in the making or someone who just learned how the horsey moves, this event is designed for you. Beginners are warmly welcome—no experience required!

Deck the Halls with Chessboards

We believe chess is serious business, but that doesn't mean we can't have serious fun. For this special three-week event, there won't be any frills or decorations—just warm smiles, a relaxed setting, and a welcoming atmosphere for all.

The atmosphere will be distinct from our usual serious vibe. While the games will be competitive, the environment will be relaxed. We encourage everyone to embrace the theme.

Tournament Schedule

Mondays, December 8, 15, & 22
Location: Riverstone McDonald's
Start Time: 6:00 p.m.
Format: Two rounds each night (20 and 30 minutes per player)

Why You Should Join Us

Playing chess during the holidays offers a unique break from the chaos of shopping and planning. It forces you to slow down, sit still, and focus entirely on the 64 squares in front of you. It is a form of mental mindfulness that we all need during this busy season.

Furthermore, this is a chance to connect with friends before the new year begins. Our club thrives on community, and there is no better way to strengthen those bonds than by sharing a game and a laugh over a chessboard.

Registration Details

There is no entry fee for this special holiday event. All chess lovers are welcome to join, especially beginners looking for a friendly introduction to club play. Walk-ins are encouraged—just come and have fun!

Don't let this opportunity slip past you like a subtle pawn sacrifice. Mark your calendar, invite a friend, and get ready to celebrate the season with your favorite game.

We can't wait to see you there. Let's make this a December to remember, one move at a time.
