Rising Stars Section: Where Chess Dreams Take Flight

Our Rising Stars section welcomes players who are discovering chess's endless possibilities. If you're new to competitive play or still building your foundation, this section offers the perfect environment to test your skills and learn from every game.

Rising Stars features:

  • Longer time controls (30 minute time controls for both games) to reduce pressure and allow thoughtful decision-making
  • Friendly, encouraging atmosphere focused on learning and improvement
  • Special recognition for creative play and sportsmanship
  • Post-game analysis sessions with experienced mentors
  • Players are encouraged to take notation of their games and go over them with our more experienced players.

The Rising Stars section isn't about winning or losing—it's about taking that crucial step from casual play to competitive chess. Every participant leaves with new knowledge, confidence, and excitement for their next chess adventure.

Grandmaster's Gauntlet: Where Legends Are Forged

For our experienced players, the Grandmaster's Gauntlet presents a fierce competitive challenge. This section attracts serious tournament players, club champions, and anyone ready to test their skills against formidable opposition.

Grandmaster's Gauntlet features:

  • Rapid time controls for intense, tactical battles (game 20 and game 30)
  • Swiss system pairing ensuring balanced competition
  • Live commentary on feature games (everyone has an opinion)

The Gauntlet separates good players from great ones. Every game matters, every move carries weight, and only the strongest survive this crucible of competitive chess.

The Midsummer Slam Chess Tournament has concluded, and we couldn't be more thrilled with the turnout and level of competition! Over three weeks, 27 players participated in the tournament, showcasing skill, strategy, and sportsmanship. The tournament has officially concluded, and it was an exciting competition from start to finish! With ten players vying for the top spot, every match showcased incredible skill and strategy. Ultimately, Eric finished at the top of the club-rated field, emerging victorious with an impressive 2.5 points. Not far behind, Abel secured second place with a solid 2 points. Additionally, we are thrilled to welcome Lee as the newest member of the club, who made an impressive debut by winning his first game. Congratulations to all players for their fantastic performances!
