Celebrating Success at Inland Classic 2: Full Recap and Results:

 

The Inland Classic 2 came to an exciting conclusion, showcasing all participants' immense talent and determination. Congratulations to Linus Wannamaker for claiming first place with an impressive score of 4.5! The tournament also saw six players tie for second and third, scoring 4.0 each. Among these were seasoned players like IM John Donaldson, Eric Billaux, Michael Cambareri, Ken Erickson, Tyson Bunch, and Daniel Bowers. Additionally, numerous players demonstrated strong performances across various classes, with Brandon Arensmeyer taking the second-biggest upset prize and Brock Swope winning the Class D/Unrated section with 3.0 points. Such a wide array of achievements highlights the competitive spirit and camaraderie that define the Inland Classic.

Special recognition goes to the CDA Chess Club members who participated in and supported the event. Deon Goodwin, Assistant Tournament Director, William Merry, and Leo Grace represented our club and contributed to the tournament’s success. It is always inspiring to see local players striving for excellence among a mix of seasoned competitors and newcomers. Events like this not only celebrate individual victories but also strengthen the chess community in the Northwest.

Hosted in the cozy setting of Starbucks on Ironwood, the event showcased the talent and skill of chess enthusiasts from various regions. On November 20th, twelve dedicated players gathered to compete in a classic "Quad" round-robin format, demonstrating exceptional skills and strategic depth. Congratulations are in order for Payton Akers, Serena Grace, and Logan Davis, each of whom emerged victorious in their respective groups with an impressive streak of three consecutive wins.
