Chess enthusiasts, what an incredible weekend of strategy, competition, and community! Washington’s Birthday Chess Tournament Series is complete, and we’re thrilled to share the final results and express our gratitude to everyone who participated. This patriotic weekend was packed with thrilling matches, exciting comebacks, and a celebration of all things chess.

February 15th Results

We started the weekend with a fantastic February 15th tournament featuring spirited gameplay and bold strategies. Congratulations to the event's top scorers!

🥇 Andrew Sr. (AVRdesigns) claimed the top spot with an impeccable 3-0 record, showcasing his mastery of the board.

🥈 Emerson (Eson102) secured second place with 2 points, delivering strong and calculated performances.

🥉 Andrew Jr. (MijoGrande) completed the podium with a solid show and extraordinary moves.

Additional players included Payton (PayPay2010), Lindsay (lindsaydadsie), and Steve (twotacky1), all of whom contributed to a day filled with competitive and enjoyable matches. Lindsay’s return to the CDA Chess ladder added an exciting dynamic; his games were a pleasure.

February 17th Results

The competition heated up even more during the February 17th tournament, where five players brought their A-game to the virtual board. The results are in, and here’s how it played out!

🥇 Andrew Sr. (AVRdesigns) extended his winning streak by staying undefeated for the weekend, finishing with another perfect 3-0 record.

🥈 Emerson (Eson102) earned second place again with a strong showing of 2 points.

🥉 Steve (twotacky1) and Therese (ghsneligunweryb) tied for third with 1.5 points each after an exciting draw highlighted the intensity of their matchup.

🏅 Mike O’Brien (Frosty1228) returned to the chess ladder with determination, scoring 1 point and exhibiting remarkable resilience after a break from competitive play.

A massive shoutout to all players for their dedication and sportsmanship! The energy and enthusiasm you bring to our events make them so memorable.

Ladder Updates and Wrap-Up

This weekend marked the return of Lindsay (lindsaydadsie) and Mike O’Brien (Frosty1228) to the CDA Chess ladder, adding new layers of excitement to the competition. The ladder standings have been updated to reflect the outcomes of both tournaments, and it’s shaping up to be an exhilarating season ahead!
