This Washington's Birthday Weekend, we're honoring the spirit of leadership, strategy, and determination with a patriotic twist—an online chess tournament hosted by the CDA Chess Club! Whether you're a seasoned player or a curious beginner, this is the perfect opportunity to come together, test your wits, and celebrate one of America's founders uniquely and excitingly.

All CDA Chess Club members, new members, and beginners are welcome!

  • Swiss Style Tournament: 3 rounds
  • Game/20
  • Dual-rated for Lichess and the CDA Chess ladder.

💵 Cost: Free! Join one or both tournaments.

Celebrate Washington's Birthday with a patriotic spirit! Those playing online can still attend our in-person club meeting on Monday evening, February 17, at 6 PM at Riverstone McDonald's in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Feel free to channel your inner patriot with themed attire or accessories!

How to Join

  1. Not a member of the CDA Chess Team yet?

Joining is easy! Go to Lichess.org, create a free account, and request to join the CDA Chess Team. Our team admins will quickly approve your request, so you're ready to go! Here are step-by-step directions.

  1. No Pre-Registration? No Problem!

You don't need to sign up for an advance. Log into Lichess at the scheduled tournament time, and you'll be ready to play.

  1. Missed a Round? Don't Stress!

Life happens—if you miss a round, you can still jump back into the action and play in the following rounds. Everyone's welcome to keep the fun and competition going.

  1. Is this Event Beginner-Friendly?

Absolutely! Washington himself was once a beginner, too! 🎉 This tournament welcomes players of all skill levels, providing everyone with a supportive and encouraging environment.

  1. CDA Chess Ladder Standings:

After play concludes, tournament results will automatically be added to our club rankings on the CDA Chess ladder. It's a great way to see your progress and grow!

William Dolson-Andrew The November 9th Starbucks Chess Tournament proved once again to be a remarkable occasion, filled with intense competition and strategic brilliance. Hosted in the cozy setting of Starbucks on Ironwood, the event showcased the talent and skill of chess enthusiasts from various regions.
