Got questions? No worries! Here's a quick rundown of some FAQs to get you on board smoothly:

  • How do I know I got in the "March In Like A Lion" chess game after I signed up? After you sign up, we'll email you, "You're in!" within a day. If you can't find the email, it might be in your junk mail, so check there too.
  • Can I miss a tournament week and still play later? You can take a one-week break each month and still participate in the tournament. Just tell us you need a break before Sunday night of that week, and we'll give you a bye (which means you won't play but still get a small point).
  • What's Swiss-style pairing? Swiss-style means everyone plays many games without getting kicked out of the tournament. You will play against people who have won as many games as you have, which keeps it fair and fun.
  • What's with the 20-minute game rule? Each player has 20 minutes to make all their moves in a game. You must think and act fast, making the game more exciting.
  • How do you decide who plays who from one week to the next? If you played last week, we remember that and try to match you with people who did about as well as you did. This rewards those who keep playing every week.
  • Can I join the tournament after it's started? Yes, new players can join the tournament even after it has begun. However, they might not receive priority seeding like players from previous meetings but will still be able to participate fully in the competition.
