Below, you’ll find an overview of how our events work, who can participate, and where to look for upcoming tournaments.

About CDA Chess Club Online Tournaments

CDA Chess Club organizes regular online tournaments, open exclusively to club members. We host events for a range of skill levels and age groups, including Open, Beginner, and Scholastic (K-12) sections. Our goal is to offer a welcoming, competitive, and fun environment for every chess player.

Why Join Our Online Tournaments?

  • Convenience: Play from home or anywhere with internet access.
  • Community: Meet local players and build lasting chess friendships.
  • Exclusive Events: Participate in members-only tournaments that count towards your CDA Chess Club rating and ladder.
  • Skill Development: Gain practical experience in a supportive, club-centered setting.

Tournament Formats

CDA Chess Club online tournaments may use a variety of formats:

  • Swiss System: Players compete in a set number of rounds and are paired against those with similar scores each round. You don’t get eliminated, so everyone plays every round!
  • Arena: Play as many games as you can within a time window. Points are awarded for wins and draws; the leaderboard updates in real time.
  • Round Robin: Each player faces every other participant. Typically used for smaller groups or club championship qualifiers.

All tournaments are rated on Lichess and contribute to the CDA Chess Club ladder and club ratings.

Platform: Lichess.org

All CDA Chess Club online tournaments are hosted on Lichess.org, a free, community-driven platform. To participate, you must:
